Helping Mommy

Last week we spent the week away from home helping a friend. My friend just had a baby and needed to hospitalized for many health concerns.Isaac was such a blessing and a help to me. it touched my heart to see what a good big brother he will be someday. He prays every day that Mommy will have another baby. I love his faith. There are so many things we can learn from our children if we just listen.

Gods blessings

Within the last week the Lord has blessed two of my dear friends with the birth of new little boys. God is so wonderful. I have the great joy of getting to spend time with both families this week. I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed with giving me the availability to help both families with their miracles.

Not sleeping

As a baby Isaac slept through the night right away. I was so excited and felt so blessed that my first child was so easy at night. Little did I know that just because he slept through the night as a baby that did not truly mean a thing. He continued sleeping wonderfully until he turned five. To me I thought that by that time any problem would have already happened boy was I wrong! Isaac now wakes up anywhere from two to five times a night. This is especially hard for me because i have a hard time falling back asleep once I wake up. Does anyone have any advise on how to deal with a child who wakes up many times during the night?

kindness of strangers

Things sometimes happen in life that surprise you and make you smile. We were at Target a few days ago when one of those things happened . As we we leaving Target a woman approached me and asked me if I could do something for her. I smiled and wondered what could I do for her? She then held out some money and asked me if I would please take it. The woman told me she likes to do this sometimes to bless others.

We do not always understand God's will in things but he always has a purpose and a plan in it all!

Happy Birthday Baby Thomas Jackson

A wonderful friend our ours had just delivered her sixth blessing a few days ago. We went over to visit their family and meet Baby Thomas Jackson for the first time. After eating dinner we had the blessing of eating the yummy ice cream birthday cake his Mommy had made just for his arrival. As we were eating Isaac came
into the room and asked us if the cake is for Baby Thomas. When I tell him yes he started singing Happy Birthday to baby Thomas.

Isaac's name means laughter and is very good at making his mommy and others laugh everyday.

Trusting God through it all

When my husband and I got married we made a decision that got a lot of negative reaction. We decided that we were going to allow God to control the size of our family therefore not use any birth control. We thought that we would become parents almost imedately, but God had another plan. It was over two years before we got the amazing news that we would be parents. When Isaac arrived we were so happy and hoped the miracle would happen again quickly.Once again the Lord had another plan. When Isaac turned four he told me he wanted a sibling. I told him to pray and trust God for a response. The evening of Isaac's fifth birthday we found out that we were blessed to be expecting again. We were so excited we decided to tell everyone right away. At 7 weeks along we got some very sad news that I had miscarried. Through it all I was sad But I knew God has a purpose and a plan in it all. I know when it is Gods time he will bless us again.

First lost tooth

Isaac just lost his first tooth! He was so excited until he realized he did not know where it was because he had swallowed it without even realizing it!
Children grow up and change so quickly. I am reminded how quickly it truly goes and to cherish each special milestone.

The simple things in life

The best things in life are free. Being a mom is such a blessing i am so thankful to have such a blessing to cheer me up on those hard days.

Sweetness

Isaac is finally back to his silly sweet self. Last night he came into my bedroom to ask me if he could have more lemon honey tea. I told him he needed to wait until tomorrow, he smiled then said "Mommy could you please remember that yummy recipe?" I smiled and told him yes Mommy can do that.
I love moments like this they make motherhood so great.

sickness

This year has been horrible for sickness. Isaac and I have been taking turns with what seems like the same pesky cold that will not go away. We have both been coughing and sneezing like crazy. I am happily looking forward to spring and the warm weather.

Learning to cook

Growing up most of the meals in our house were easy things just put together from a box or a few cans thrown into a pan. Each meal was always coupled with applesauce and cottage cheese. As a young wife I fell into the same patterns as my family did. I justified it by, "no one has ever taught me how to cook so if I try new things I will fail". For a long time I did not want to try new things because I truly was afraid to fail. Little by little I experimented a more and more realized not only did I like to cook but I was getting pretty good at it.
Cooking became a part of my day that I looked forward to.As time went I realized there were things I still did not truly understand about cooking.I still did not completely understand that not only did food need to to taste good it also needed to nourish.A great friend of mine started teaching me how to cook to nourish and still get it to taste great. I am so thankful for the great friends God gives to teach me new things everyday.
